Dear Type 1 Diabetics, siblings, parents, grandparents, family, friends,
Hi! My name is Amelia Rehrman and I am 11 years old.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on 9/11/2006. I was 4 1/2 at the time. That is almost 7 years! Every year since 2008 (I was 6 years old!) I have held “Amelia’s Diabetes Dash”. It is an event that takes place at New Garden Township Park in PA (about 45 minutes away from Philadelphia, near Kennett Square).
I ask people to bring their bikes, scooters, roller skates, or their own two feet, a picnic lunch, and a donation of their choice for JDRF. Everybody rides or walks around the park, eats lunch, and has a good time! My goal is to have fun while raising money for JDRF. In the past years I have raised between $300 and $400 for JDRF. Usually just family and friends come to my Diabetes Dash, but this year I want it to be a big thing. I have invited Type 1 Diabetic celebrities to come to my Diabetes Dash this year.
We need to show people why we need a cure! We need to show them why we need money for research. My Diabetes Dash is to raise money and spread awareness about Type 1 Diabetes.
Please come to my 5th Annual Diabetes Dash! The more the merrier!
